Work Sucks
So I have a regular speaking gig. I can honestly say that I pretty much hate it.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the subject, the people, and the pay.
What I don’t like is the actual doing of the work. Maybe it’s just me but getting paid to do something steals all the fun out of it.
I remember when I was a kid and I got paid by my dad to mow the lawn the first time. Before that day it was fun to cut the grass. But every single time after that it was work. And work sucks.
Work always sucks. Sometimes it can be fulfilling. Sometimes it can be fun. But it always sucks. Always.
It can bring purpose and meaning. It can guide one’s life. Work can inspire. But in the end it always sucks life out you.
Don’t believe me? Just meet some people who do meaningful work. Meet a humanitarian aid worker. Meet a trauma nurse. Meet a speech-language pathologist who works everyday with kids with autism. Meet an inner-city school teacher. Meet a cancer researcher. They each have meaning in their work. They all have find purpose in their careers. They all love what they do.
But they all are being sucked dry. Their jobs suck.
So we must find ways to reinvigorate ourselves and rehydrate our souls. We simply must or else our lives, like our work, will suck.

dude….Freud would just say you are in dire need of a blowjob, what with all the SUCK dry talk.
Interestingly enough I got one later in the day that I posted this entry!
Works’ good for you, apparently, work makes life meaningful, so they say.
Most people I work with seem too hate their jobs and spend their day wishing they weren’t there. The weekends are always too short and when they come back from their holidays they are depressed and can’t bear the fact that they are back, doing the same old thing they hate, day after day.
I agree, I hate it too, most of the time. Sometimes I fuck off home, early. This frowned upon, often more so by the very people who complain the most.
Well, I wish I could, they say, I’m just far too busy.
Fuck them
I’ve started an angry stiff section of my blog and have recently posted something about work and how it sucks.
Come along and add your bile and fury.
Congrats on the blow job by the way.
A bj usually helps put things in perspective.
Just noticed I said my blog section was called angry stiff, when its actually angry stuff – Freud strikes again!
